275hp, 260 ft/lb, 6spd manual, eLSD, electronically-controlled suspension, loud exhaust, quirky hatchback body-style, wide tires and big brakes. This is all wonderful.
I’m digging the weird looks, and the performance is icing on the cake. It’s a strange world where Kia and Hyundai are making some of the most interesting enthusiast cars. Can’t wait to take one for a test drive! Oh... And other than the front support it looks like that big grill in front is... Wait for it... Real! As in real air, flowing through real holes, hitting the radiator and intercooler (which this Hyundai also has). Thoughts?

I never wanted a Veloster before but this one has my attention.

From anyone else I’d expect to see it in between the hot hatches and the golf R/Sti/RS hatches but being a kia... Hopefully they’ll keep the price lower. Or maybe it will be a total flop and you’ll be able to grab one brand new with a huge mark off

e_LSD has me e_underexcited. I wish they would put a real LSD on these cars.

Sounds like it’ll have an electronically controlled LSD, not torque vectoring using the brakes?
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

That’s a dang good looking car

This is a real LSD, just with electro-fairy-wizardry thrown in on top of that.

It is a real electronically-controlled LSD, like you would find in, say, a C7 Corvette.

We’re in total agreement on that. Also, is this the only hot hatch that can be (soon) bought in the US without 4 doors now..?

Is the GTI not available as 2 door anymore?

The 2017's no. The 2016 configurator is still up and there’s a 2 door option there. The 2018 configurator still isn’t live despite cars being on the showroom, but I’m guessing no 2 door option

I’m wondering how they’ll price it but I’m interested when I graduate and get a decent job.

Doesn’t it have a third door, like what you got on trucks?
If so that’s a plus for me. I imagine children could be a concern for me in 2.75 years.

That’s a bummer but it makes sense. Most people buy the GTI as a compromise of fun and function. Might as well get the extra utility of two more doors and a bit more space.

In that case, I’d be happy. I just worry that is a brake-vectoring system which are crap.

If this is the real car that is good. Hyundai and Kia though have a habit of showing cars and the release version, if it happens, but quite a bit different much like Subaru

It sure is the only one you can get with 3 side doors.

You can open the passenger rear door without first opening the front door.

FYI, 2 and 4 door Golfs/GTIs are dimensionally the same inside and out. The number of doors only determines how easily you can access the interior. The doors on the 2 door are just really long to make it look proportionally shorter.

I really like it but I really wish they would have brought over the N version Elantra too. I would prefer a little more utility but wish I didn’t have to settle for the Elantra sport

I’m happy to see a 3 door hatchback. I could see myself driving this.

elsd is good, it’s what corvettes have been using, the GTR V-Spec used from the 90s, and the current GTI uses.
